Random Thoughts

The first rain drizzles in San Francisco on a Wednesday night...
It's been a while since my last blog (again?!) and a lot of wonderful things have happened.
Some random thoughts to recall these on an early Thursday morning:
...We had a theme park adventure last Saturday (Sept. 30) at Six Flags Marine World where we took some crazy rides, one of these on a WOODEN roller coaster, watched almost all of the shows on walruses, dolphins, Shouka the whale, tigers and sea lions.
...I bought a colorful clownfish stuffed toy to remind me of the fun-filled theme park day...though at the back of my mind, I can't help but feel sad about the animals living inside a theme park...I know they are spoiled and well taken care of, but it just feels sad that in a way, they have to work for their sustainability, i.e. entertain people to fund their preservation.
...Ms. Juliet slept over at our place and the Sunday after our theme park adventure, Zyne and I headed out with Ms. Juliet to San Jose for a (drumroll) factory outlet shopping!!! Good quality brands at factory prices, that sounds really good...And as usual, Zyne went on a spree =) I found a great Naturalizer pair of flat black shoes for $10.98 which made me really happy.
...I got a MUNDI bag, the real deal, for only $ 15, GUESS (another real deal) blue blazer (which can pass for both casual and corporate looks), some bath and body goods for pasalubong and a beautiful-maroon sweater at Levi's/Dockers. How's that for shopping?
...We also had our first California rain in San Jose which promptly ended when we were done shopping at Great Mall.
...We then headed out to Seafood City to buy some Pinoy grocery items. I bought white-headed shrimps, vermicelli and Mama Sita sauces =)
...I had another factory shopping at 24th St Mission (my little secret bargain place - it's Spanish country here) and got 2 hooded pretty sweaters (blue and pink), 1 pink corduroy blazer and hooded jacket (which I had to return and exchange later for a larger size in black)...all for $30.
...Every colleague at the work place are turning out to be really nice: Chuck reminds me of a mentor - he talked to me about my challenges so far during my stay here; Khailesh, our Partner in the project is always warm and he takes time to chat and check on his team whenever he can; Eric is humble and he's always very appreciative so it feels good to help him out in even the most trivial of things; Brad walked with me on my way to the BART and he's good to chat with, in a literal "big brother" kind of way - it also amazed me that he prefers to take the 30-minute walk from his apartment to the client site (Kaiser) and vice-versa, instead of taking transportation or driving (not often do I hear this from a guy); Molly, I haven't seen her in a while and her presence in the site does wonders to us all; Chris is recuperating from his knee surgery, and we will miss his straight-faced jokes; Helina, one of the new members, is really nice and friendly - maybe typical for Asians (she's Chinese) and I do enjoy having conversations with her for her pure interest; and Miguel, another addition to the team, is smart and makes me proud that I'm Asian and Filipino.
...I love the new series "Six Degrees" on Thursdays. Its theory that we are all connected in some way (up to six degrees) reminds me of that that network illustration in friendster of how you are connected to a particular "friend".
Well, it's 4AM and I might as well sign off for a short nap before I prepare for work. I'm still working on the pictures and I hope to get the 1 GB memory card I ordered from eBay within the week. For now, ciao!!!
