Warm Welcome: UNIQLO @ Glorietta 5

A warm welcome to UNIQLO in its Glorietta 5 branch !!!
Finally, a much closer branch to the Makati yuppies out there.

The Glorietta 5 branch opened in June 28, 2013.
UNIQLO: A Japanese apparel brand
Unique clothing? Then, let me check it out.
All the hype about the UNIQLO brand made me curious.
I heard from the Mall of Asia branch shoppers that there were long queues just to get in. What??? Like, really?
Curious curious...hmm.
And so...
It was a good thing that my morning meeting was rescheduled to 11am and moved to the client's Makati office (instead of Sucat).
After the meeting, I immediately headed to Glorietta 5 to check out the UNIQLO happenings.

The store entrance
There was no long queue (BIG thanks for that).
But...
Shoppers were so busy filling their baskets.
A sight which I can only closely compare to "panic buying" in preparation for an early warning for a typhoon.

Busy shoppers everywhere
All roads lead to...
The fitting room!
All races, all colors.
Most of us (myself included) want to go back to basics --- clothing which are simple and easy to wear.
UNIQLO's Lifewear concept focuses not in the branding. There are no loud logos. Nothing for the brand-conscious here. The wears are so much like the shirts that your high school class would have typically ordered for its Sportsfest (most often the cheapest with semi-good quality to meet the budget).

The UNIQLO brand says that the difference is felt with the texture and comfort. There are even "UV cuts" which are supposed to protect the wearer from UV rays.

I felt the shirts for myself and can't help but agree. This is not your typical T-shirt. It has the good combination of cotton and spandex to meet your needs for comfort and a good fit.

The promise of UNIQLO's Lifewear quality made me recall the T-shirts which I've had since 2006. The seven-year-old shirts still managed to retain the fit and colors up to this day. They are from a different brand and I bought them from Target in one of those outlet shopping escapades. Back then, I thought of them as just the typical casual shirts, sometimes with almost onion-skin (read: too delicate) first impressions. But after seven years of wash and wear, I wish that I bought more of them :)

This personal testimony on T-shirts withstanding the test of time (***please don't roll your eyes***) made me realize the difference of REAL quality --- the one that goes beyond branding. And IT IS POSSIBLE. One can wear the same sets of shirts for years =)

What say you, UNIQLO? ;)

This AIRism inner wear caught my eye.
(Limited introductory price @ Php 390)
With the extra humid (and may I add "moody") Philippine weather, we can all use something like this to keep us cool while we endure the daily EDSA traffic in Manila.
Manila Manila Manila!
Yeah, the UNIQLO brand has invaded Manila.
They're giving this notebook for a P2,500 single-receipt purchase.
With the warm reception of the brand in its opening day, I expect that Filipinos will keep coming back for more.
I say, this is a good shopping health break for the brand/logo crazies :)

Keep cool dears!
