Delectables: STK Ta Bay

It's April 15! To financial auditors who need to beat the tax deadline and save their clients from magnanimous BIR penalties, this is a big deal.

Even though we are miles away from the SGV Makati office, the team deemed it necessary for us to join in the April 15 "celebration". After the hard work, long nights and indescribable stress for the past three weeks, why not?

At the close of busines day of April 15 and with the blessings of our boss/partner-in-charge WRB, the team headed to STK Ta Bay at Cebu City for a team dinner :)

STK Ta Bay translates to "Let's eat 'Sugba, Tinola, Kilawin', my friend".  STK or su-tu-kil are three ways of preparing food (usually seafood): sugba (grilled), tula (soup or broth) and kilaw (raw and dipped in vinegar). The place is also known as Paolito's Seafood House, and is located in a well-hidden nook in a residential village across Cebu Doctors' Hospital and The Capitol.

Do not underestimate its simple exteriors. Dining here is a memorable gastronomic adventure...
This was so far the most appreciated dinner, in terms of taste and value for money. Excluding the 500 bucks which we paid for two pitchers of cooler drinks (worth it anyway), 1,500 pesos was enough to feed the six hungry ninjas.
Sharing our pics below...

The resto is another ancestral house converted into a unique dining experience --- quite a common take here in Cebu.

This part of STK looks more "new" probably due to the renovations. The "old world" charm was retained though, through the memorabilia arranged daintily in the background.

Our team's table - #44
Our orders
(which are not all seen here --- the team was so famished, they all dug right in and there was no time for proper pictures until the end of the meal, hahaha):
- 2 pitchers of mixed berry cooler
- 2 platters of plain rice
- Pochero (which actually is closer to the Batangas Bulalo :)
- Mixed vegetables (an excuse for a healthy dish)
- Crispy pata (patatim was mistakenly delivered at first, which the servers promptly corrected)
- Shrimps (good to the last bit, including the heads)

The first meal served - Cebu's pochero which looks more like Batangas' bulalo

The crispy pata which was reduced to bones after the hungry ninjas feasted on its crunchiness...

Oops...no leftover...

While waiting for our bill to be settled, we took the time to take pictures of the memorabilias below.

Reminds me of my Papa's pomade (which I used to steal and try when I was a kid until Papa bought me my own tub; those ones smell much better than the "modern" ones these days)

The don's pipe

Old school postcards and snail mail...
Made me wistful remembering the good old days of putting in much effort to write legibly, to find the most appropriate postcard in that special faraway place to share with your loved one, and to wait patiently for that snail mail...
Boy, I feel so old, haha...

I am not sure what these are for...something related to shoes I guess..
And look at that sturdy trunk! They don't make ones as durable as this  these days...

Leather shoes still preserved?

That lampara and the old camera...
I still love browsing through "tangible" photo albums until now...

The mother of flat iron and its mini-me :)

They also have the shrimp promo...What say you, shrimps? ;)
