Delectables: Midnight Bonding

While waiting for 12:01 of January 1, 2014, my Mama and I bonded over bits and pieces of her home-cooking and my favorite Tinapayan's brazos de mercedes.

I can finish that bowl if you let me :)
Fish = prosperity
I love whatever my Mama cooks
Note: I rarely eat fish while in Manila. The impression that these are not fresh and may not be safe stuck with me, I'm sorry. I usually buy the frozen fillet kind instead.
Tinapayan's brazos de mercedes
My all-time favorite: affordable and very delicious

With the New Year countdowns on TV and minimized sounds of firecrackers (at least in our subdivision) in the background, Mama and I spent our bonding time over good food plus a bit of wine and cheese, frozen buko and canned fruits salad, and my favorite pistachio ice cream. The eight dogs smelled the good food (dog noses are the most alert, I must say) and they gleefully joined in. Haaay, I wish we could be this way every day...Before we knew it, our eyes and tummies were heavy and it was three in the morning. Time flies indeed when you're having fun.

I will always associate great food and laid-back moments with home. That's all of my food-nostalgia journey for now. I have been cooking this Saturday which probably explains the gastronomic flashbacks :)

A happy Sunday to all!
