Human Heart Nature 100% Natural Cleansing Oil

How clean is clean? asks the OC to the AA.
I think it's pretty clean, says AA.
OC shakes its head and says, Not good enough.

Some people swear by cleansing oils (oil cleans oil, they say). Others by facial washes and water (if it has worked in their teenage years, why change?). Still some professed their loyalty to cold creams (tried and tested stuff passed on from one gorgeous generation to the next). Mostly, cleansing aids are sought out and trusted for reasons of keeping breakouts at bay and having that coveted clear complexion.

Well, I have a different reason for using Human Nature's cleansing oil: I want to avoid eye infections.
The label says: 100% Natural Cleansing Oil with Sunflower Oil --- No parabens, synthetic fragrances, mineral oil, PEGS or other toxic substances
Size: 6.59 fl. oz (195 mL)
Where bought: The Landmark Makati
Price: Php 374.75
Ingredients: Premium cosmetic-grade Helianthus annuus (sunflower) oil, fragrance (all-natural)
Please read more if you want to see how it worked for my specific needs.

My ophthalmologist reminded me to make sure that I thoroughly clean my eye area before I doze off. And that's because I have large pores in this area which if clogged could infect the eyelids resulting in inflammations (the red and grainy ones that can be sooo bad they'd block your vision).

After my last eye infection back in 2009, I was more careful in keeping these pores near my eyelids squeaky OC-ly clean. Just recalling that time when I had to choose between the externally applied medication and a "mini-surgery" still freaks me out. I chose the former because I'm such a scaredy-cat; the thought of a little knife cutting through my eyelids was too much to endure.

I can afford break-outs and the occasional pimples but an eye infection is a BIG downer for me. It gets in the way of my work, too, which in my case entails a lot of reading and writing.

Then, I found this Philippine brand --- Human Heart Nature 100% Natural Cleansing Oil. It's supposed to be made of premium cosmetic-grade sunflower oil. Sunflower brings me happy memories (don't they just make you smile when you think of a field of big yellow things waving with the wind?). Will this motivate me to remember my nightly ritual of cleaning up the "make-up remainders"? I only retouch with powder so I guess the morning's make-up should be subdued by end of day. But are its oils thorough and efficient that I won't be caught midway, cotton pads on hand and snoring off to  slumberland, before I'm done with the cleanup job?
Before: At the end of a 12-hour day, my left eyebrow still shows hints of brow powder and my lashes have clumps of mascara which held on despite my oily eyelids
After: Left eye area cleaned up now and my lashes "breathing free"

I am satisfied. There is no strong scent and no sticky feel after wiping away and rinsing the oil. There are no tears, sting or irritation even if I get really close enough to gently rub off those mascara clumps.

To Human Nature's cleansing oil: You got the job done (along with really mild baby wipes). You're hired ! =)

So there, my dears. We all have our reasons for doing and trusting certain things. I guess there's nothing wrong with having mostly beauty motivations as long as these bring out the best in us. But please don't forget your health, too, lovelies. Health and beauty were born in the same garden at the same time --- no wonder they're both pink and pretty =)

Take care loves!

Disclaimer: I am not a beauty blogger. I do not recommend or rate products per se. I only share my experiences while using them and the whole thought process behind getting, using, falling in love or hating the product. I leave the beauty blogging to the experts; in fact, I go back to their reviews from time to time though I may not necessarily agree with all of these --- What's good for her may not be necessarily good for me. I am a confessed novice in every way --- I only try to view each experience with "new eyes" and reflect some more on how beauty can be a gift that should be experienced rather than seen. So don't take my word for it --- What works for me may not necessarily work for you --- but go ahead and take that adventure! The risks we take do make our lives interesting. =)
