Two Serendra Blast - Memories of our Fragile Lives

May 31, 2013 , at around 8:10 PM
I was safely home when I read the breaking news on the blast  at Two Serendra, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig >> Eyewitness thought Serendra blast was 'action movie' (gmanetwork.com)

Things like this unexpected blast only further validate the brevity of life. We live in an uncertain timeline where the only thing that's defined is that dash between our birth date and our last day on earth. Yes, we make plans but the all-knowing God has the better Plan. And although we tend to stray, hopefully we find our way back to our paths to fulfill our destiny just before our "due date".

As I watch the news, I let out a big deep sigh and my deepest gratitude, all at the same time. My heart goes out to the three Abenson employees who suffered a tragic fate when their delivery van was hit my a huge concrete slab from the Two Serendra condominium building which flew all the way from the other side of the street where the explosion originated. These are hard working employees who had to render the extra hours to finish their duties, and whose lives had to end that Friday night.

Still, I pray "Thank you" to the Almighty Father for Your wisdom and guidance which have kept us away from the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on this very night. My friend, Melody and I made plans last Wednesday to visit The Fort, check out the new SM Aura, and have coffee or dinner at BGC this Friday. Thanks to our angels who whispered us the reasons which made us cancel our plans: we eventually agreed that traffic will be predictably bad because it's a payday Friday and of the ongoing Taguig dispute which closed a part of the BGC.

I cannot help but remember the Glorietta blast from years ago. Glorietta had been revived into the "New Glorietta". And now Ayala, one of the country's prime real estate developers, is faced with another mystery to solve.

Is the explosion from a gas leak (Wasn't this the same conclusion for the Glorietta blast?) or from terrorism bombing (another theory named at the time of the Glorietta blast) ? We do not speculate because we do not have the right to. And doing so will not help solve the mystery or ease the pain from those directly affected by this tragic blast.

Let's thank Him up there who looks over us and after us. I do not want to sound preachy at this time, but I believe that all of us have the choice to look back to Him anytime, i.e., have faith enough to surrender to His will.

There is grief when we lose things or a loved one; each of us have gone through or will go through this in life if only to appreciate that every minute is precious. Let's pray for strength - for those who've been left behind to deal with the direct effects of the Serendra blast, and for wisdom - for those officials involved in the investigation, that this will hopefully be resolved the soonest possible.

The Almighty Father bless us all.

Just read this and your post of Saturday, September 04, 2010. What a grand world we live in when a 68 year old grandfather blogger Things my Grandkids Should Know from Indiana, USA can enjoy the musings of a bright young Filipino girl. (Forgive me if "Girl" offends you, at my age most women are girls;) Thank you for expanding my world just a little bit more.

No problem :) I think it's really cool that someone your age do take time to read (and appreciate) blogs. And you actually have your own blog, too! Your grandkids should be proud =)
On another note, I read from the news yesterday that one of the injured victims from the Serendra blast mentioned above died after several weeks in the hospital. He was here to attend a wedding and only rented the condo unit (where the blast is supposed to have originated). He's about your age (at 60+) and was said to be on his way out when the blast happened.
Life is short indeed and today is the only thing we have for sure. Cliches yes, but these remind us to appreciate the small and big blessings we receive each day. I hope you'll have more meaningful years ahead so you can blog more and share the things that your grandkids should know. Ciao :)
