Keys, Books and Michelin

Yay! What a lovely weekend! Here are bits and pieces of that, my dearest friends...

Friday. I found and bought two accessories with key themes. Key, as in the key with the lock, the house key, or the key to your heart ;) I LOOOOOVE keys!!! But contrary to popular belief, I don't have a lot of them in my accessories collection. In fact, I only had one necklace with a key pendant inscribed with 1983 at the back (hmmm, 1983? Not even my birth year), and a key and lock ring I got from Koket which is now too loose for any of my skinny fingers (necklaces are always the safe bet). Until this Friday. I was browsing through Papelmeroti, the novelty and paper items store, when I spotted these two key-themed necklaces and instantly fell in love. The first one has a family of keys --- father, mother, brother, sister and baby --- and has its closure on the same loop as the family of keys. The second one has one key with 'DREAM' spelled out on top along with a globe and a miniature Eiffel tower.

Sunday to Saturday was book week. I read five books which all made me tear up: The Last Lecture, Love Story, The First Phone Call from Heaven, The Art of Racing in the Rain, and Love, Rosie ---  read in that order. Turned out that my ranking, in terms of how each book affected and moved me (not necessarily the most buckets of tears), are in reverse of the order I read them, with the last two joining my all-time favorites.

Saturday. My bestie, Lovella and I had our first catch up in 2015, after a really really long time. We picked Tim Ho Wan at Glorietta. Although there was a short line when we got there, it moved fast and we were seated in no time.

Tim Ho Wan earned its Michelin star in the same year that it opened in Hongkong (2010). A Michelin star is like an Oscar for food establishments. The reviews are independent, commissioned by the Michelin brothers and are done anonymously. For most, the Michelin star is all that counts for a restaurant or establishment to be worth raving about. Lucky us, we have Michelin-starred Tim Ho Wan in the Philippines --- one of the only two countries with Tim Ho Wan branches outside Hongkong (the other one is Singapore).

How was your first Tim Ho Wan bun, Vel?

The most famous dish is the BAKED pork bun. Yup, it's baked and yet crispy! But better consume it in the first 15 minutes, I was told, to taste it at its best. I wonder what happens to those buns on takeout boxes then. As for me, why take out the goodness of experiencing it first-hand?

Can't resist to have my picture taken this time, to "add good luck" (literal translation of Tim Ho Wan)

That's it for my lovely productive week / weekend dears :):):)
Hope you enjoyed yours, too!
